Beware the Green-eyed Monster

The internet is a wide world of information and inspiration. There are beautiful things everywhere and I soak them all up like a dry sponge. But I'm human and I can't help but feel the pang of jealousy when I see how beautiful someone else's photography is, or how layered and wonderfully designed a wedding invitation set is, or how tidy someone else's house always is, or how someone can string together the same words I use in every day conversation to sound poetic and meaningful. It's a constant push and pull. A push away from it all so I can just be the way I am and a pull to be more like all of those beautiful things I'm surrounded by.

I came across this incredible post by Josh Ritter about jealousy today. It's written from the point of view of a musician but it's more about jealousy and it's incredibly powerful counterpart, ambition.

I'm starting to see how jealousy and ambition coexist and I don't feel nearly as frustrated with myself for needing it both ways.
